Care Needs

Plant your orange tree in a hole slightly larger than the root ball, between 2 and 3 ft across. It needs slightly acidic, well-drained soil to produce a sucessful harvest. Do place a layer of mulch around the tree, but do not let the mulch touch the base of the tree, as this may cause mold growth. Water as often as necessary, but do not overwater. A slow release nitrogen fertilizer works best primarily for the growing season. Prune in early spring before new growth appears.

Design Ideas

The abundant shade, pleasant fragrance, and delicate flowers will make this tree a welcomed addition to any backyard. Keep in mind when choosing a location for your orange tree, that it could reach 50 ft in its lifetime, so do not plant anywhere near power lines or the edge of buildings. These trees complement any South or Southwestern facing fence or as a natural property border if given plenty of space to grow, about 12 feet away from driveways or other structures. Let our experienced staff advise you with great planning ideas to create your own tropical getaway.
